How is the level calculated in the IF7KING LEAGUE
We’ve already explained how the level system works in IF7SPORTS events. In this article, we’ll look in more detail at how the level is calculated in IF7KING LEAGUE tournaments and what factors influence each player’s final score.
Group Stage
The group stage uses a points system, both in King of the Court and the Playoffs:
- Win: 3 points
- Draw: 1 point
- Loss: 0 points
In King of the Court, this ranking directly determines the tournament winner. In the Playoffs, it determines which teams advance to the knockout stage.
The level achieved in this stage depends on the balance between results and matches played:
- A positive balance will increase the player’s level.
- A neutral balance will maintain their level.
- A negative balance will result in a level loss.
For example, in a group stage where each team plays five matches:
- 0 wins, 1 draw, and 4 losses: loses level.
- 1 win, 3 draws, and 1 loss: neither gains nor loses level.
- 4 wins and 1 loss: gains level.
Therefore, a team that fails to qualify for the knockout stage can still gain level if they have a good group stage.
The level gain in this stage ranges from +1 to -1.
In the 3-team King of the Court tournament, the winner is considered to have advanced through a knockout round, and therefore receives the corresponding level bonus for first place, even though they did not play a knockout match.
Knockout Stage
Teams that reach the knockout stage cannot lose level. In the worst-case scenario, they simply will not gain any additional level bonus if they are eliminated.
The level achieved in this phase depends on two factors:
- The team’s final position.
- The number of teams that reached the knockout stage.
Therefore, there is no fixed level range for this phase; it can only contribute a value of 0 or higher.
Extras
In addition to the team’s results, the system also considers individual performance. Therefore, goals and tournament awards contribute additional level:
- MVP
- Top Scorer
- Best Goalkeeper
To maintain the system’s balance, there is a maximum level limit for extras. Furthermore, the Top Scorer award contributes a reduced amount, as their goals already contribute to the level calculation.
The maximum level that can be obtained from extras is 0.8.
Total Level
The final level obtained in a tournament is the sum of:
- The level achieved in the group stage.
- The level achieved in the knockout stage.
- The level obtained from extras.
Abbreviations
In the level history, users can view the results of each tournament once the data has been processed. Initially, a summary view will be displayed, and expanding it will show the details of each phase and any extras.
| Abbreviation | Explanation |
|---|---|
| W | Wins |
| D | Draws |
| L | Losses |
| MP | Matches Played |
| LV | Level Achieved |
| # | Team Position |
| G | Goals |
| MVP | Tournament MVP |
| S1 | Tournament Top Scorer |
| GK | Tournament Best Goalkeeper |
Examples
Example 1 (very positive result)
A player participates in a 12-team playoff, has a near-perfect group stage, wins the tournament, scores 4 goals, and also wins the MVP and Top Scorer awards.
| W | D | L | MP | NVL |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 4 | 0 | 1 | 5 | +0.7 |
| # | W | L | MP | NVL |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 2 | 0 | 2 | +1.4 |
| G | MVP | S1 | GK | NVL |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 4 | ✓ | ✓ | × | +0.8 |
In this case, the player would gain +2.9 level thanks to their excellent performance throughout the tournament.
Example 2 (Negative Result)
In this case, the team has a poor group stage and fails to qualify for the knockout stage.
| W | D | L | MP | NVL |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 0 | 1 | 4 | 5 | -0.8 |
| W | MVP | S1 | GK | NVL |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2 | × | × | × | +0.2 |
Although the player recovers some of his form thanks to the goals scored, the result of the group stage means that the final balance of the tournament remains negative.
